Some investigators have found that self-reported measurements tend to over-estimate height and under-estimate weight and BMI, particularly in women (Gorber et al, 2007).
Because actual height may be difficult to obtain in all bed-ridden ICU patients, we compared different alternative methods to estimate height in 60 healthy volunteers and validated its usability in 60 ICU patients.
