The alleles associated with blue eyes at all three BEH blue-eye associated haplotypes have their highest frequencies in Northwestern Europe, and the TG allele at BEH2 is essentially observed only in Europe; the ACA allele of BEH1 and the CA allele at BEH3 are at their highest frequencies in Europe, particularly in Northern and Western Europe, and have much lower frequencies elsewhere.
Some bursts, such as those associated with CMEs (types II and IV), are essentially not observed at all at solar minimum even though the CME rate only varies by about a factor of ten between maximum and minimum.
This tendency has been essentially observed in human gut bacteria40,41,42,43,44, but the recent characterization of the carrageenan-specific PUL in Z. galactanivorans45 shows that it is also the case at least in some marine bacteria.
