They are used to show that how precise a measurement is, or on the other hand, how far from the reported value the true (error free) value might be.
The mean values for the parameters for both seasons are presented in the form of standard error bars and gives a general idea of how accurate the measurements are or how far from the reported value the true (error free) value might be (Fig. 3).

These values are higher than the corresponding gene prediction accuracy, indicating that long genes on error free reads are more likely to be predicted correctly than short genes.
