Similarly, we're unlikely to see the male equivalent of books like Naomi Wolf's "Misconceptions: Truth, Lies and the Unexpected on the Journey to Motherhood" or Rachel Cusk's "A Life's Work: On Becoming a Mother," both of which express considerable ambivalence about pregnancy and motherhood, and especially about the emotional and physical discomfort entailed.
Among them are two that I have personally tried: Netflix, which delivers (by regular mail!) a steady stream of movies on DVD to nearly 400,000 subscribers for a flat fee of $19.95 a month, and Audible, whose Web site allows customers to download the digital equivalent of books on tape directly to their desktop computers, to be transferred to MP3 players and other hand-held devices.
