After closing, Zynga, the maker of online games like Farmville, slashed its full-year earnings forecast, blaming delays of new games, dwindling revenue from existing Web games and a "more challenging environment" on the Facebook platform.
The issue for Zynga is that the environment on the Facebook platform remains challenging and the company has yet to prove that it has the same historic dominance on mobile platforms.
At the same time, while the company has transitioned to mobile platforms and probably has the largest network of players on Android and iOS, it hasn't been fast enough to compensate for a tougher environment on the Facebook platform.
CEO Mark Pincus has described 2013 as a "transition year" for Zynga as it continues to face a challenging environment on the Facebook platform, struggle to build its mobile revenue and deal with declining user numbers, but it's still far from certain if the transition will be a positive one.
The company also says it's lowering its outlook for the rest of the year based on "delays in launching new games, a faster decline in existing web games due in part to a more challenging environment on the Facebook web platform, and reduced expectations for Draw Something".
In return, Instagram says this will "set up a more sustainable environment built around authentic experiences on the platform" for developers in the categories it does allow.
But Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey refuses to ban Jones, explaining that Jones "hadn't violated any rules," and is part of the "healthy conversational environment," Dorsey wants to cultivate on the platform.
