The Ig-fold mutant N496I (known to cause AD-EDMD) had relatively little effect on nuclear shape, location and nuclear envelope protein cellular compartmentalization (Figs 3– 5), yet it caused locomotion defects and lethality at the pupal stage (Fig. 2 and Table 2).
Although the bud6∆ mutation reduced compartmentalization of the envelope, as reported previously (Shcheprova et al., 2008), no effect was observed in gcn5∆ mutant cells compared to wild-type cells (N ≥ 20 cells; Figure 4C).
Thus, we next asked whether SAGA inactivation affected the compartmentalization of the nuclear envelope during anaphase.
In particular the cell manages compartmentalization via the cell's envelope, appendages, but also nanomachines such as the ribosome, ATP synthase, the degradosome and many others [ 17].
Because of the intricate buildup and compartmentalization of the diatoms complex plastid (four envelope membranes), an efficient flux of CO2 for acquisition and fixation of inorganic carbon by RuBisCO might be much more challenging than in organisms with primary plastids.

One major aspect of this specificity is ROS compartmentalization within membrane-enclosed organelles such as redoxosomes (redox-active endosomes) and the nuclear envelope.
But in recent decades such compartmentalization has disintegrated.
