When enrolment closed in late November 2010, 681 participants had been randomised with 154 in Group 1, 148 in Group 2, 188 in Group 3 and 191 in Group 4. Post-training assessments occurred at 6 8 weeks postrandomisation, and complete data were obtained for 616 participants (90.5%).
Note: At the time of finalising the manuscript for this paper, enrolments had closed, but data collection was ongoing and results had not been analysed.
Matching criteria were: (1) SHCS centre; (2) gender; (3) HIV-transmission category (IDU, MSM, heterosexual/other); (4) age at enrolment (as close as possible, up to a maximum of 9 years difference); (5) year at reference date (as close as possible, but within the following calendar periods: 1985–1991; 1992–1996; 1997–April 2000; May 2000 2010).
14 Additionally, Rosenheck commented on the sample sizes of the cross-sectional studies, where only one study enrolled more than 5000 participants, and in general enrolment was closer to the 1000 mark, potentially negatively impacting the power of the studies to effectively assess the association between fast-food consumption and weight/obesity.
The 15 patients with progressive, refractory, or recurrent solid tumours (7 melanoma, 4 colon cancer, and 1 of each of the following: soft tissue sarcoma; GIST, that is, gastrointestinal stromal cell tumour; prostate cancer; and pancreatic cancer) were enrolled between 27 April 2009 and 18 March 2011, at which time enrolment was closed.
By the time the enrolment period closed, on Monday last week, 7.1 million people had signed up.

Of the 4116 remaining potentially eligible patients, 2079 declined to participate and 966 had not yet been sent their letter describing the study by the time that study enrolment was closed, leaving 1071 potentially eligible patients.
However, many HE pundits will monitor enrolments with a close eye to see if any particular groups have been deterred.
