"If any further evidence comes to light which is relevant to this enquiry it will be considered by the Crown and we reserve the right to make further enquiry, if considered appropriate," the Crown Office said.
"If there are genuine enquiries they will be politely declined".
Community beat manager PC Steve Harvey, said: "Some of the items found have given me some positive lines of enquiry which I will be following up as soon as possible to trace who is responsible.
A series of possible research questions will be outlined and the paper will conclude by indicating the next steps in the development of this line of enquiry.
"Should any new lines of enquiry be identified, they will be comprehensively pursued and we will, of course, contact those affected".
However, it might not always be feasible to specifically block such variants when analyzing the sequence, because it could include variants relevant for the diagnostic enquiry, and furthermore, it will be challenging to keep an updated list of all known disease-related variants.
UNICEF welcomes the announcement that an enquiry into these incidents will be undertaken, and urges that the findings be made public immediately and that all steps necessary are taken by military forces to ensure the full protection of women and children in Afghanistan.
