The answers to the sexual enjoyment item as well as the two items concerning male and female sexual problems were conditional on having been sexually active (item 49).
The remaining items in the original sexual function scale about sexual intimacy (item 51), risk of contamination of partner (item 52), sexual enjoyment (item 53), and an item for sexual function in women only (item 54) remained as individual items.
This may seem like a small price to pay given the enjoyment these items bring, but it is still something that should be considered by the homeowner prior to purchase or construction.
Similarly, the three enjoyment measurement items [ 41] indicated whether the health recommendation system was (1) not interesting/interesting, (2) not entertaining/entertaining, and (3) not enjoyable/enjoyable.
These improvements in the BPI interference scores are similar to the results of a study conducted in Japanese patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain [ 24] who presented improvements in the scores for walking ability, relationships with people, sleep, and enjoyment of life items and improvement of −0.48 in the average score of the seven BPI interference items.
It was not possible to assess the psychometric properties of the scale female sexual problems and the single item sexual enjoyment due to a high number of missing values.
Patients with high scores (>90) on the physical function scale of the QLQ-C30 reported significantly better functional scores and fewer symptoms on all QLQ-C30 and three module scales (urinary symptoms, malaise, and sexual function) and on a single item (sexual enjoyment) than patients with poorer physical functioning (p < 0.001, Table 4).
A similar observation could be made in the case of the SOAL-item, "Has your enjoyment of food reduced?." However, as the majority of items of all the questionnaires focus on FHS, the influence of a few HR-QoL items was considered to be unimportant.
In light of all the recent economic upheaval, the arrangement and enjoyment of a variety of items we use everyday, virtual or not, seems like a refreshing approach.
