"Engine by" may be correct and usable in certain situations, such as when describing the manufacturer or creator of an engine. For example: "The new car features an engine by Mercedes-Benz." However, it may not make sense to use "engine by" in other situations. For instance, "The car was driven by the engine" would be more accurate.
