Although the ability to explain many features of our results by using Monte Carlo simulations in a layered geometry is encouraging, these simulations predict at most a 15% reduction in measured DCS CBF vs. actual cortical blood flow for our probe fiber spacing in a typical rat, less than the 25% underestimation observed vs ASL-MRI.
