We did note that variance was heterogeneous for a number of variables within the exposed valley population exhibiting significantly elevated variance relative to the reference population in the foothills.
This elevated variance in mean temperatures at field margins is reflected in the on average 1.2°C lower minimum temperatures (LRT χ²1 = 4.57, P = 0.033), and especially in the on average 8.1°C higher maximum temperatures (LRT χ²1 = 15.19, P < 0.0001) at field margins than at woodland gaps (Table 1).
Tandem and segmental duplicate genes did not have elevated transcript variance due to the replicate suggesting that tandem or segmental duplicated genes are not noisier than unique genes (Figure 2).
