For Ian Thomson, president of Thomson-Neilson Electronics, work in the space science sector is providing exciting opportunities for his company.
"The new electronics worked well, and helped in the straight, but I'm too slow on corner entry and I cannot keep the right corner speed.
In one piece of equipment state-of-the-art digital electronics may be working in tandem with a mechanical system invented in 1895.
So a Marine, a firefighter and a civilian Navy employee hopped in a truck, purchased some parts from a local electronics store and, working in a tent pitched beside a hot and dusty desert airport, built a cable adapter that finally established civil-military communications.
"Working on the robot does not just mean interface design and programming, electronics hacking, and working in the machine shop," Rüst explains.
"It takes a different kind of electronics to work in space," Aderin-Pocock whispers.
"All of that electronics has got billions and billions of dollars of R and D in it, so we're just trying to make use of all that research and see if those electronics will work in space".
Remember, though, not all Japanese electronics will work in the States.
The above mentioned solutions work either as rigid electronics that works in both modes (transmission and reflection) or as a flexible textile but only in transmission mode.
