Often, an electron dense line, located between adjacent dendrites at a regular and even distance between them, could be seen within the extracellular space, and small pockets of accumulated uniform electron dense deposit could be seen between adjacent dendritic profiles (Fig. 2B).
After Cr treatment in Allium cepa electron dense precipitations lining the inner side of the cell wall were observed and Cr was detected via EELS, indicating a local elimination of metal from the cytoplasm.
The sporangial cell wall of the control lines and the weakly SpTyr-silenced lines are more electron dense than the most SpTyr-silenced lines (Fig 8).
Moreover, developing sporangia from individual silenced lines possessed a less electron dense cell wall when compared to control lines, treated with GFP-dsRNA.
In most of the cell lines the electron dense matrix granules are absent.
On similar lines, TEM photographs showed electron dense spherical secretory granules for insulin among Leans and Controls, while Mutants showed a comparatively less number of the secretory granules with distinct degranulation and vacuolation in the islet region).
Microscopical analysis suggest that melanin is located in an electron-dense layer in the cell wall of sporangia of S. parasitica, since the electron dense layer was absent in the most silenced lines.
This can be best appreciated in the electron micrograph image shown in Fig. 2a, where electron dense heterochromatin is visualized inside the nucleus, mostly around the nucleolus and lining the inner surface of the nuclear envelope.
For PSD-area analysis, a line segment was drawn along the postsynaptic density (the electron dense plaque on the postsynaptic membrane opposed to the presynaptic element) in each section through a given synapse using polyline tool in Fiji software.
The more electron dense membrane is thought to be postsynaptic.
