The problem is that most users of the older system are elderly - their average age is 75, and many are over 80. Many, like Mrs. Gordon, lack computers, or the inclination to use one.
The clinical information systems will be represented by the Electronic Elderly Record System (EERS), a web-based application built for both clinical and research purposes.
With those sensors and log capability of smartphone, we can develop many useful systems or applications in different domains such as healthcare (elderly monitoring system [1, 2], human fall detection [3, 4]), transportation (monitoring road and traffic condition [5]), personal [6, 7] and social behavior [8, 9], environmental monitoring (pollution [10], weather) and etc.
This will bring more challenges to the traditional family-oriented elderly care system and will impose higher standards on the society's pension system.
