Kakinami et al. 2011 showed that the longitudinal structures of Ne could be caused not only by meridional wind but also by zonal wind driving dynamo effects, especially those of the modulated electric field by nonmigrating tides which may modify the longitudinal structures of Ne in the ionosphere.
As a possible explanation of the observed effects of modulated pyramidal cell activity, the authors discuss the induction of weak electric fields within the tissue, in turn influencing local neuronal excitability.
