We analysed the relative effects of fuel age (i.e. indicative of the effectiveness of prescribed fire) and logging on remotely sensed (SPOT imagery) severity of fires which occurred in eucalypt forests in Victoria, Australia in 2009.

Research focusing on health reveals that, of the estimated 25,400 excess winter deaths in 2009-10, almost a fifth (21%) were attributable to cold housing and the effects of fuel poverty.
The first, a scientific study on the effects of fuel combustion, showed that if we burned all the fossil fuels in the world, roughly 10 trillion tons of carbon would be released, causing global temperatures to soar.
