The unit of health of interest and the effectiveness measure for this study was the proportion of children with diarrhea ≤ 4 days, since mortality is an infrequent outcome and would require a large sample size.
Effectiveness measures for patients with PsA included the modified Psoriatic Arthritis Response Criteria (mPsARC) [ 26]; ≥ 50% improvement in the American College of Rheumatology response criteria (ACR50) [ 27]; TJC (0 to 78 joints), SJC (0 to 76 joints), and changes in TJC and SJC; and the Health Assessment Questionnaire Disability Index (HAQ DI, 0 to 3) [ 28].
Collected characteristics were the author(s) and year of publication, the study topic, a short description of the intervention, the effectiveness measure for CEA, the cognitive (intermediate) outcome measures of behavior change, the type of behavioral model used and a short description of the application of the cognitive outcome measure in the study (Table 1).
Effectiveness measures for dichotomous outcomes will be benefit and risk ratios (depending on the beneficial/adverse character of the outcome).
Table 3 shows the 95%% credible interval for the five cost-effectiveness measures for each of the four interventions.
The effect measure for the cost-effectiveness analysis was the proportion of patients correctly treated.
The tailored intervention received by patients and caregivers could partially explain the limited effectiveness of the intervention [ 11], while the effectiveness was measured for the overall group and not measured for the patient's individual situation.
For the effectiveness measure, we used the difference-in-difference approach in multivariate regression analysis to identify the effects of the intervention by controlling for baseline effectiveness or cost measures, as well as baseline patient characteristics (age, gender, education, marital status, employment status, number of chronic conditions, and number of symptoms).
Consistency in effectiveness measures has important implications for the usefulness of cost effectiveness results to decision-making [ 5].
