This approach is appealing because selection may be much more efficient than drift in opposing the homogenizing effect of migration, in particular when populations have large effective sizes.
Effective sizes range from 6 to 10.
The most effective sizes are in the 20 200 nm range.

Nevertheless, the differences in the effective sizes of chemically distinct tetrahedral interstices (i.e. [Zr2Ti2], [Zr2TiNi], [Zr2Ni2], etc)., which are important for hydrogen absorption, remain rather small.
Most human populations will generally have higher effective population sizes than these minimum effective sizes [20].
These effective sizes are larger than any population of wild peach palm observed to date.
Furthermore, the modern effective sizes we infer – on the order of 105 – are much smaller than regional census sizes.
We used a second set of data from the literature, in which populations were evolved for 20 transfers at different effective sizes.
