Seeing other participants' comments prior to making one's root comment did not have a significant effect on either the usefulness of the participants' comments or on the participants' tendency to provide suggestions.
Previously, several researchers have affirmed that confirmation has a positive effect on the perceived usefulness of a wide range of ICT, including those used in learning contexts (e.g., Chiu et al., 2005; Limayem & Cheung, 2008; Sørebø et al., 2009; Lee, 2010; Terzis et al., 2013).
However, information systems (IS) research lacks a structured evaluation of possible design choices of feedback media, their influence on the social presence and subsequent effect on the perceived feedback usefulness.
For a set of 18 practices commonly studied in the literature, this paper investigated diffusion, effect on the success, and perceived usefulness in 62 actual industrial projects from 28 Italian IT companies.
