We sought to investigate the effect of increased body weight on the risk of death and serious injury to occupants in motor vehicle crashes.
It is therefore unlikely that the association with body height could be caused by an effect of increased body weight among tall women.
In agreement with previous studies, we found a pronounced effect of increased body mass on adipose tissue expression of chemokines, pro-inflammatory cytokines and markers of inflammation (Hotamisligil, 2003; Bruun et al., 2007; Huber et al., 2008; Shakeri-Manesch et al., 2009), whereas overweight patients with PCOS did not differ from overweight controls in this respect.

The correlations (r) between terminal body weight and articular cartilage erosion were r = 0.20, 0.21, and 0.22 (P > 0.05) for cohorts A, B and C respectively, indicating that less than 5% of the apparent surface erosion in the OVX group can be attributed to the effects of an increased body weight (data not shown).
