Educative it may be, but it neither reveals anything new nor does it properly explore the United States' most contentious activities in the third world: its interventions in Latin America and elsewhere, the prosecution of the cold war, the role of the CIA, the Vietnam war, its failures in the Middle East.Perhaps more seriously, the account offers no coherent line of argument.
