The fruit of a seed first planted in 2008 by a post-Annapolis Conference committee of Israelis and Palestinians dedicated to promoting education on tolerance, building a culture of peace, and preventing incitement, the study has this week succeeded in generating more heat than light, at least as far as the Israeli government is concerned.
As a Catholic who attended Catholic schools at St . Augustine Elementary and Hackett Catholic Central High Schoolin Kalamazoo, Michigan, I feel I'm qualified to throw my two cents into the situation, and I've noticed an alarming trend in Catholic education: the decline of tolerance and critical thinking skills as a focal point.
But democracy is another matter altogether, and requires long and patient labor in building civil society, forging a sense of citizenship, broadening education and inculcating habits of tolerance and respect for law that are generally not present in peoples who have lived so long under dictatorship.
By acknowledging the importance of tolerance training and education in major sports leagues, the realm of professional sports can help reduce these harmful occurrences before they happen.
To quote one of my personal icons, Helen Keller: "The highest result of education is tolerance".
We just have to work harder, to create better education, less tolerance of intolerance, and make sure these people get exposed.

Finally, I've heard it said that public education's tolerance of liberal lifestyles and its agenda for celebrating diversity is reason enough for Christians to run for the hills.
