Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a cutting edge imaging modality in detecting diseases and pathologic tissue.
The first-order structure tensor J ρ is useful to analyze strong edges such as step edge, corners, and T-junctions, while fails in detecting weak edges precisely.
We performed both quantitative and qualitative comparative analysis with existing edge detectors and have demonstrated the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed construction in detecting several edge types including step, Dirac edges and hidden edges found in the images used to perform the experiments.
