Optimizing fast spin echo acquisitions for hepatic imaging in normal subjects.
The method takes advantage of the multi-echo acquisition in a Carr Purcell Meiboom Gill (CPMG -like sequenCPMG -likeificantly reduce the experimental time to obtain a 2D image or to sequencey resolve relaxatoon timesignificantlysensitive volume in a single imaging expereduce.
We used the stimulated echo acquisition mode in conjunction with water suppression techniques [ 34].
This can be achieved by frequency selective radiofrequency pulses, as in stimulated echo acquisition mode (STEAM) [ 76] and point-resolved spectroscopy (PRESS) [ 77] in proton (H -MRS, or by excitation and subsequent subtraction of unwanted signals, as in image selective in vivo spectroscopy (ISIS) tecH -MRS [ 78] in phorphorus (P)-MRS.
A stimulated echo acquisition method (SV-STEAM) was used in conjunction with CHESS sequence to suppress the water signals for MRS acquisition.
At 1.5 tesla, a 3D spoiled gradient recalled acquisition in steady state (SPGR) and at 3 tesla a magnetization prepared rapid gradient echo acquisition (MPRAGE) were performed for the assessment of grey matter atrophy.
T1 relaxation time assessments were obtained with an inversion recovery spin echo acquisition (8 inversion times), and T2 relaxation times were obtained with a single-echo spin echo acquisition (8 echo times).
After the first echo acquisition, all gradients were refocused.
A single volume-stimulated echo acquisition mode sequence was used.
Our approach described in this paper is based on the combination of the T1 and T2 optimized first echo images(called first image later) and the parametric images based on the multiply echo acquisition.
Krššák et al used a stimulated echo acquisition mode (STEAM) sequence [ 41].
