East Coast Lagoon Food Village at East Coast Park: An open-air hawker center nestled alongside the beach and modeled after a rustic Malay village, East Coast is the place to sample fresh seafood (try the chili crab at Long Beach Seafood), laksa (Roxy Laksa), and grilled meat satay skewers (Haron Satay).
To the east, spectacular lagoon and shingle bar features have developed.
I could imagine us at a place that looks a bit like the East Coast Lagoon Hawker Centre, Daniel's Club Med, although it would overlook the Hudson rather that the Strait of Singapore.
The next evening, though, while the Seetohs and I were on the way to the East Coast Lagoon Hawker Centre to have some salted vegetable and duck soup (a dish that has replaced French fries in Patricia Seetoh's pantheon), Seetoh pulled up in front of a shopping mall called the Shaw Centre.
At his retirement, he had just presided over a $2.5-million 2.5-millionf a beach venupgrading the East Cofst Lagoon Hawker Centre, which was turned into something so reminiscent of a tropical resort that Seetoh refers to it as "Daniel's Clubeach".
Today, more than 10,000 street cooks--among them Singapore's top grill masters--ply their trade at 115 government-certified hawker centers, like the popular Newton Circus Hawker Centre, East Coast Lagoon Food Village, or Gluttons Bay.
It is surrounded by the Baltic Sea to the north, the Dziwna River to the east, the Szczeciński Lagoon to the south, and the Świna River to the west.
The national seashore covers an area of 90 square miles (233 square km) between New Smyrna Beach (north) and the space centre (south) and includes 24 miles (39 km) of undeveloped barrier beaches between the Atlantic on the east and Mosquito Lagoon (all of which is within the national seashore boundaries) on the west.
Their line ran north-east and south-west from the Bardawil Lagoon to east of Katia, with their left flank thrown well forward.
In Little Havana, in Miami, there is another Centro Vasco, on Southwest Eighth--a street that starts east of the Blue Lagoon and runs straight to the bay.
