Rapid inflow via a periarterial space may also partly account for the early observation that horseradish peroxidase injected into CSF reaches the basement membranes of even the small microvessels in the cortex within a few minutes [ 79, 154– 156] but at low concentration, such that at early times only very sensitive detection methods are capable of establishing its presence [ 157].
Especially as relates to early-time only data collections, proper extrapolation is not as arbitrary as interpolation and must be validated by extrapolation testing, done here for Tk-GV.
These results suggest that all IFNβ-induced genes are transcribed when classical ISGF3 binds to canonical ISREs at early times, but that only a subset of these genes, which contain ISREs with variant flanking sequences, can be further induced by U-ISGF3 at late times.
