The average connected porosity of each of the sampled intervals is given in Table 1.
The amount of leached radioactivity was monitored by radio-counting aliquots of each of the sampled leachates.
Layering for this model was done by creating surfaces between each of the sampled plugs (Fig. 18).
Table 2 lists the average ash, sulfur and trace element contents for all the sampled units and within each of the sampled strata.
A photograph of a 20-mm-diameter sample (prepared perpendicular to bedding) of each of the sampled intervals is given in Fig. 2.
Assuming that dry plant biomass and soil organic matter is about 50% organic carbon [28, 25], biomass was converted to carbon content for each of the sampled compartments.
A transversal analysis revealed two different invertebrate assemblages at each of the sampled cross sections: one across the mobile bottom with higher densities but lower diversity, richness and evenness than the other one found close to the banks.
Then, using registers at village local council chairmen's offices, 20 households were selected in each of the sampled villages (20 × 180), making a total sample of 3,600 households.
The developed method first carefully samples the multidimensional design space based on the input parameter ranges, automatically evaluates an existing detailed stack model at each of the sampled points, and performs regression for selected performance variables of interest to determine the response surfaces.
To assign each of the sampled plots from the Mokihinui and Karamea gorges to a specific alliance and association of the national-scale classification we applied the fuzzy classification framework of noise clustering (Dave 1991; De Cáceres et al. 2010), following the procedures outlined in Wiser and De Cáceres (2013).
Further, no significant levels of differentiation were observed between each of the sampled time periods (Fig. 2; Table S1).
