This multiplet (duplet of triplets) represents one of the C-satellites of the methyl resonance of lactate and constitutes half of the signal due to [U-C]lactate.
For example, on the interface between cytochrome c (chain W in [PDB 3CXH]) and cytochrome c1 of the yeast cytochrome bc1 complex (chain O in [PDB 3CXH]) the bifurcated salt bridge between Lys96 (Lys87 in human) of cytochrome c and the duplet of aspartate residues of cytochrome c1 (and231 Asp232p232) shows Θ = 22.8°.
Results for all the six duplets of data sources are reported in supplementary Figure, which shows that most of the combinations of two data sources work better than their corresponding single data sources except for the combination of nucleosome occupation and DNA energy.
Since only three acidic duplets of Apaf-1 are in a position to interact with cytochrome c (see Figs. 4 and 10 ), we believe that these acidic pairs might bind cytochrome c, thus triggering the apoptosome formation.
Intriguingly, in humans, a triplet of one Sp1-4, one Sp5/btd, and one Sp6-9 genamelymely Sp3, Sp5, and Sp9, is linked to the Hox D cluster and the remaining human Sp genes are arranged in duplets of one Sp1-4 and one Sp6-9 gene, which are linked to the remaining 3 Hox clusters, respectively (Fig. 9, center).
The decrease in titin content was accompanied in some cases by an appearance on the gel of a duplet band of its N2A isoform (see Figure 2(b), line 3), which also may be a consequence of increased proteolysis of this protein under microgravity conditions.
A duplet band of 6-phosphogluconate dehydrognease was seen in the majority of the cancer samples but in no sample of normal cervix; it appeared to be partly due to ageing of the sample, and is not phenotypically related to the malignant process.
However, the CTCF-cohesin duplet is characteristic of only one type of insulator or boundary.
Other major differences between cell lines are the amounts of alanine (C3-Ala; 17.0 ppm) present in cell extracts, much higher in LS1034, and the composition of the C4-Glu multiplet in terms of duplet 45 (D45) and quartet (Q) multiplets, which as mentioned correlate with Krebs cycle turnover rates.
Both alternative splicing and post translational modification mechanisms can explain the detection of a duplet by Western blots.
In three cases, acidic "duplets" (pairs of adjacent aspartate and/or glutamate residues) were involved in complex salt bridges with lysine residues of cytochrome c.
