Of these, 12 items were adapted from four constructs in the UTAUT model: performance expectancy (4 items), effort expectancy (4 items), attitude toward e-learning (3 items), and social influence (1 item).
The author-developed freetext questionnaire (Additional file 2) was developed by the author with reference to key themes in literature on end of life care (6 items) and e-learning (2 items), and tested for face validity with the ABC course facilitators and piloted with research colleagues before being administered to study participants.

Having considered the importance of tests, this paper proposes a personalized multi-agent e-learning system based on item response theory (IRT) and artificial neural network (ANN) which presents adaptive tests (based on IRT) and personalized recommendations (based on ANN).
