Today marks the start of "Dying Matters Awareness Week", an annual campaign supported by the National Council for Palliative Care.
The Association Palliative Medicine is examining the implementation of the pathway and the experience of professionals, Dying Matters is looking into the experience of the patient and their loved ones and the End of Life Care Strategy is focusing on complaints surrounding the LCP and end of life care in hospitals.
In 2014, a survey by the spine-tinglingly titled Dying Matters Coalition discovered that 80percentt of people felt that death is an uncomfortable subject to discuss, and that only 21percentt of British adults had discussed their end of life wishes with another person.
"Talking about dying won't make it happen," says Toby Scott from the Dying Matters coalition.
