I've never heard a Radio City audience keep so silent during ballads.
Their attention occasionally lagged during ballads but picked up again during big numbers like "Brotherhood of Man" in "How to Succeed"; "Blow, Gabriel, Blow" in "Anything Goes"; and "Don't Break the Rules" in "Catch Me if You Can".
Once you give in to the peer pressure to clap, and sing along, and dance in your seat (at my performance, one member of the crowd even waved a lighter during ballads) you have the time of your life.
