It is even more important to analyze the 43 remaining DSTs for which no temperature dependent change in σ binding has been shown so far.
We have shown that a strong relationship occurred between the electron flux in channel E1 and magnetic perturbations through Kp and Dst indices, for which the average R values were around 75% and 60%, respectively (Fig. 2).
We first apply the extended Burton's model to previously observed four intense magnetic storms (Dst minimum < −200 nT) for which solar wind data are available.
Out of these days, we choose December 12 , 2013 for which the Dst index varied between 2 and −11 nT, and the auroral electrojet index (AE index) did never exceed 89 nT.
Moreover, an approximate 6-day-forecast for Dst, which is based on direct solar observations, was recently presented by Tobiska et al. ([2013]).
