Payments to the parents of fireman/stoker Edward Biggs were stopped in 1914 because his mother Rose had been "up before the magistrates for drunkenness"; and "Mrs P" had her allowance stopped the same year "as the committee were dissatisfied with her mode of life".
For instance, one of them concluded that 'socializing with others, having friends and a regular relationship associated independently with drunkenness-related alcohol use, especially frequent drunkenness' ([ 42], p. 146).

The results suggested that changes in parental attitudes negatively predicted drinking (β = -.21, z = -2.61, p <.01) and drunkenness (β = -.22, z = -2.57, p <.01) at T2 for the program group.
However, once confounding factors (age, gender, deprivation, and school) had been accounted for, the relationship between past month drunkenness and parental knowledge of consumption was no longer significant (P = 0.082).
Not adjusted by frequency of drunkenness since drunkenness and use of alcohol are strongly interconnected (χ2-test, p < 0.001).
The linear LGM model for drunkenness did not fit the data as well, χ(2) = 27.81, p <.001.
While haplotype SNP1C SNP4A (P = 0.036) was undertransmitted in children with lifetime prevalence of drunkenness, haplotypes SNP1T SNP4A (P = 0.0029), SNP4A SNP6A (P = 0.0145) and SNP4A SNP6G (P = 0.0163) were undertransmitted in those drinking elevated quantities of alcohol.
Children who drank alcohol without their parent's knowledge were significantly less likely to report past month drunkenness than those who consumed with parental knowledge (29.4% compared with 11.3%; P = 0.002).
Two-marker haplotype analysis showed that haplotypes SNP1C SNP4G and SNP4G SNP6G were significantly overtransmitted (P = 0.0243 and P = 0.0017, respectively) in adolescents that displayed life time prevalence of drunkenness and high amount of alcohol drinking (Table 5).
