During the following hydrothermal process, ethanol dehydrates to form ether in the form of oil droplets in solution.
The clusters we report here are formed at ∼50-fold lower Nck concentration than needed to form phase separated droplets in solution (i.e. in reference 26).
So the process we are observing is not the formation of 3D droplets in solution, followed by binding of those droplets to membrane-attached p-Nephrin.
Note that much higher concentrations of Nck and N-WASP (∼40 µM and ∼15 µM, respectively [ Li et al., 2012]) are required to form phase-separated droplets in solution than to induce p-Nephrin clustering on membranes.

The objective of the present work was to investigate this interaction process both experimentally and theoretically involving different size of particles (radius ∼ 100 200 μm) with varying surface wettability (contact angle ∼ 50 70°) and a stationary neutrally buoyant immiscible oil-water interface (aniline droplet in salt solution) utilizing high speed imaging technique.
Indeed, microscopic observation revealed the formation of coacervate droplets in the aqueous solution of the copolymer, which is clear evidence of liquid liquid phase separation.
The hydrophilic block can stabilize water droplets in the polymer solution and also attach firmly to inorganic substrates such as glass or Si as well as flexible substrates such as poly ethylene terephthalate) [PET] or poly ethylene naphthalate).
Thus, amphiphilic block copolymers which have hydrophobic and hydrophilic polymers together are advantageous for making well-ordered honeycomb films and also the nano-needle array because there is no need to add another surfactant for stabilizing the water droplets in the polymer solution; in addition, the substrate adhesion problem can be solved with the hydrophilic block.
Monitoring the differential pressure response and the effluent states in both water-wet and oil-wet Berea sandstone cores represent an incremental residual heavy oil production after water flooding through the formation of the emulsified oil droplets in the effluent solutions by chemical slug flooding.
The highly cooperative nature of the cluster formation on bilayers is reminiscent of the sharp phase transitions observed in forming p-Nephrin/Nck/N-WASP liquid droplets in three-dimensional solutions (Li et al., 2012).
By using the preferential wetting properties of different solvents, droplets of solution in segmented flow can be 'docked' allowing isolation.
