We adapted this assay to a 96-well-plate format measuring simultaneously the drop in absorption and in fluorescence of B4F in the presence of the Sav CFE.
The initial drop in absorption is due to probing state filling in SWNTs, a trend obvious in Fig. 5.
But the big surprise, Mulholland says, was that increasing nitrate concentrations caused a precipitous drop in absorption efficiency--meaning much more nitrate could make its way downstream if nitrate loads continue to increase.
In view of this, along with the fact that we are probing a p-type semiconductor with a large intrinsic hole density [13], we believe that the observed initial drop in absorption is mainly associated with the occupation of states in the valence bands/sub-bands while its recovery corresponds to photo-generated carriers moving out of the probing region.

For some of the probing wavelengths there is a sharp drop in the absorption reaching a minimum value and then followed by a slower recovery toward equilibrium that takes hundreds of picoseconds, whereas in other cases there is a positive change in the absorption with again a recovery towards equilibrium.
When P is 600 nm, though there is a slight drop in the light absorption for a shorter wavelength range below 600 nm, the light absorption is significantly enhanced for λ > 600 nm as compared to the structures with smaller P. The strong scattering in the longer wavelength range increases the optical path length and results in a low transmittance, as can be seen in Figure 4e.
For probing wavelengths shorter than 750 nm, there is a sharp drop in the induced absorption signal followed by a recovery toward equilibrium.
It is clearly evident from the Si-NCs time-resolved data that there is a sharp drop in the induced absorption signal followed by a multi-exponential recovery toward equilibrium.
The drop in amide band absorption indicated by the red trace in Fig. 4 shows that incubating rProtein A Sepharose with 6450 mM NaOH causes ligand proteolysis.
Consequently, DTTBs experience a drop in their total compensation upon absorption.
Reconstructed absorption coefficients at a wavelength with known scattering from these data resulted in a decrease in absorption of nearly 27% – dropping the value to 0.0059 mm−1 from 0.0081 mm−1 (which are 59%and81%1% of the actual value, respectively) – when data was recorded through the detector case.
