One test-site hosted at Loughborough in the East Midlands of England tested a personal navigation device (PND) (study 1) whilst a second test-site hosted at Nuneaton in the West Midlands of England (study 2) tested a green driving support system (GDS).
It is concluded that customisable user interfaces are recommended for eco-driving support systems for trucks.
At the same time misconceptions and ambiguous messages from eco-driving support systems can confuse and demotivate.
Two eco-driving support systems were included in the experiment: one that provided continuous information and one that provided intermittent information.
In general, the participants had a positive attitude towards eco-driving support systems and behavioural data indicated that they tended to comply with the advice given.

These facts have been important in driving the development of clinical decision support systems (CDSS) that convey guideline materials to physicians in ways that are convenient and therefore potentially effective in altering behavior [ 4].
Results indicate that ecodriving support systems should facilitate anticipatory driving and help users locate and maintain drivetrain states of maximum efficiency.
Several studies have demonstrated that when using support systems at the manoeuvre level, such as collision warning, driving performance improves, while support systems at the strategic level, such as information provision about detours, may compromise safety (see [4]).
As expected, we found an increase in response times when driving with system support for both ACC-experienced drivers and ACC-novices.
In approaching the dream of fully automated cars, these driver support systems must be able to handle the diversity of individual drivers and driving situations.
