Uber alone is used by more than 30,000 drivers, labelled as self-employed partners across the UK in 15 towns and cities, with more than 1.5 million regular passengers in London.
In order to identify putative third-order auditory neurons, we focused on drivers labeling fru M + neurons that innervate the WED and project to the central brain.
However, when we generated otd −/− neuroblast clones in the LALv1 lineage (identifiable by the loss of Otd staining in the corresponding cell cluster ventral to the antennal lobe; white arrowhead in Figure 3G,O), neither of these drivers labelled the mutant LALv1 lineage.
To test this hypothesis, we used two distinct GAL4 drivers labeling α/β and γ KCs, 201y (Yang et al., 1995) and MB247 (Zars et al., 2000), to express shi ts1 and continuously block the output of KCs during training and test.
To investigate more specifically whether the mushroom bodies might be involved in dunce-mediated visual attention responses, we used a Gal4 driver labeling most of the mushroom bodies, c309-Gal4 [15] (Figure 4D).
The GH146 driver labels only about 6-10 cells of the ALv1 lineage.
The RNA subtraction driver was pooled with normalization driver, labeled with biotin, and hybridized with the first strand cDNA using the same protocol as used for normalization [ 38].
As expected, in control brains, the GH146- QF driver labelled a total of three antennal lobe lineages ALad1, ALl1, and ALv1 (magenta dotted lines in Figure 5D G).

In contrast, in brains where otd was efficiently down regulated in all neuroblasts, the GH146-QF driver labelled an additional fourth projection interneuron lineage in addition to the three clusters normally seen.
