When assessed by specific job title, we observed elevated SMRs for lung cancer among the long-haul drivers, P&D drivers, combination workers, and dockworkers, with SMRs ranging from 1.08 for the combination workers to 1.16 for the P&D drivers.
These included jobs with current and historical exposure from driving in cities and on urban highways (P&D drivers, combination workers) and on terminal loading docks with exposure reflecting movement of freight and vehicles in the yard around the terminal, background levels, and forklift exhaust (combination workers, dockworkers).
