The micromorphological damages occurred prior to the appearance of visible symptoms, with erosion of the epicuticular waxes and fungal hypha infestation in plants exposed to glyphosate drift being observed in the three clones.
The measurements (cm) were the horizontal distances, i.e., along a line parallel to the direction of virtual arm movement, the average drift being 3.25 cm. Figure 2 shows the drift by each condition.
The high abundances of rotifer populations would hinder an efficient purge of recessive deleterious alleles through inbreeding by non-random mating and, furthermore, through inbreeding by drift, being this type of inbreeding highly unlikely in view of such abundances.
