Interestingly, about 5 kb downstream, we find D and JH segments followed by Cμ1 and Cδ1- Cδ2- Cδ3- Cδ4- Cδ6 exons again.
By locating regions enriched for 19mers with an A 10nt downstream we find several genes with a reciprocal pattern in the distribution of 19mers and p-piRNAs.
We observe clear evidence for two upstream elements: the UGUA-like element and the canonical AAUAAA-like hexamer, shown as mouse elements 2 and 3, respectively in Figure 3. Downstream, we find three elements that can be described as UG-rich (element 5), U-rich (element 6) and G-rich (element 7).
In downstream investigations, we found that expression of lamin A in CRC cell lines promoted invasiveness via up-regulated expression of the actin-bundling protein T-plastin, which in turn gives rise to down-regulated expression of the cell adhesion molecule E-cadherin.
Moreover, among the potential downstream mechanisms, we found that TGF- α/ADAM17/EGFR inhibition blocked ERK and STAT-1 activation in response to aldosterone.
In the upstream part, we did not found event of population differentiation in any of 25 genes, while in the downstream part, we found events in seven out of 21 genes.

Among the downstream regions, we found a total of 1138 occurrences, only 11 of which are conserved (C.R.: 0.9% and MCS = -3.69), which is even lower than the rate for a random hexamer (C.R.: 2.7%).
With respect to PPARG downstream effects, we found here that two PPRE-bearing genes, Cav1 and Scd1, were downregulated, and two other genes, adiponectin and lipoprotein lipase, remained unchanged, while most PPRE-bearing genes [ 45], such as CD36 antigen, fatty acid binding protein 4, adipocyte and acyl-coenzyme A oxidase 1, palmitoyl, were upregulated by rosiglitazone (Tables 1 and 2).
