Umbrella is doubly historical.
The monolithic Umbrella by Will Self, an early favourite for the Man Booker Prize, was, as one critic asserted, "doubly historical," in its adoption of the techniques of early 20th-century high modernism and in its time frame, which spanned nearly a century.
Ackroyd's previous novel, "The Lambs of London," was doubly historical, focusing on figures from the past who were themselves obsessed with figures from the past: the brother and sister Charles and Mary Lamb, who, from the vantage point of the early 19th century, made a career out of Shakespeare's life and work at the turn of the 17th century.

It's not necessary to use the word "historical" when the event is clearly in the past, so this was doubly wrong and "historic" should have been deleted: "Detectives were already investigating allegations of historic child sexual abuse from more than 30 years ago".
