Transmission electron microcopy (TEM) revealed Mn3O4 precipitates with two types of dominant shape in Pd 3 at.% Mn that was internally oxidized in air at 1000°C.
As shown in Figure 4a, at 3.34 nitric acid molar content (sample 3.34 NA), the equivalent sample to MSF, spheres with smooth texture were observed as the dominant shape having a size distribution of less than 10 μm.
In practice, a threshold of 0.6 or even 0.9 makes sense when checking for the existence of a dominant shape.
