The phrase "doing the test" is grammatically correct and can be used in written English.
It is commonly used to talk about someone or oneself taking a test or exam. Example 1: "I will be doing the test tomorrow, so I need to study tonight." Example 2: "Sara is doing the test for her driver's license next week." Example 3: "The students were nervous about doing the test, but they all passed with flying colors."
"My teacher said you could chew in the class while you're doing the test," he said.
It sure looks as if some cardiologists are doing the test annually.
But BP officials pressed harder, citing "major concerns" about doing the test the next day.
It is so accepted that some doctors do not even tell the men they are doing the test.
"Have you forgotten who bombed us?" asked one person when I mentioned I was doing the test.
"He tells the other person doing the test, 'It's up, it's down,' " said Henry Williams, who is investigating the incident for the union.
"Parents will start to say, 'I know one mom who's doing the test on her son, so maybe we should do the test too,' " she said.
"The guidelines have now been in place two years and there are still 40 hospitals in England alone not doing the test at all, plus a huge variation in approach to testing across the UK".
The problem is not that use of the test will need to be restricted or what type of physician is doing the test -- the problem will be what to do with the results of the test.
"I might as well have been doing the test in Swahili, because when I'm experiencing a panic attack I literally don't understand what I'm reading or hearing," she explains.
She added that she was "not saying that children should not learn their tables" but rather cautioning against "pressing times tables onto children in a way that we don't particularly think is necessarily helpful, and then saying that schools are failing because they are not necessarily doing the test, not necessarily all achieving the test results at the right time".
