To test this hypothesis, we aggregated all diagnosis and procedure codes in three steps: no aggregation leaves all occurring codes as originally documented, category-level aggregation reduces all codes to the third hierarchy level of the corresponding catalogue and block-level aggregation reduces all codes to its second hierarchy level.
