After raising more than £13bn from shareholders last year, the bank cut the fourth quarter dividend to $0.10 from $0.19 while the total dividend fell from $0.93 to $0.34.
But that was because the stock of Winn-Dixie Stores, which became classified as a nonpayer by omitting its dividend, fell 5.5percentt.
Its dividend fell for five quarters, but quickly rose to its current generous rate of 55 cents.
