While individual studies have focused on genome variation within a few specific taxa within vent settings, we do not know whether specific taxa exhibit more strain-level variation than others in the vent environment, or the extent to which divergent strains are partitioned across niches according to their genomic features.
The aligned sequences (∼3,170 sequences) were partitioned into two functionally divergent subgroups using a Bayesian partitioning with pattern selection (BPPS) procedure [57].
