Smaller district train-lines once connected many smaller towns and villages to larger metropolitan areas: the Borders railway, dismantled in the Beeching cuts, recently re-opened the route from Edinburgh, through settlements all the way to Tweedbank.
Eventually, the district trained teachers in the method supported by research.
