This process is accompanied by the complete or near complete fusion of previously discrete gene pools into single, albeit genetically diverse populations, and trait distributions losing multimodality [ 5, 6, 9].
In contrast, the average income of Californians in each of the bottom four fifths of the distribution lost purchasing power and people in the bottom fifth, mostly nonwhite, have seen a wrenching decline of over 19%.
