The overarching objective of this project was to develop and gain experience using a distance-learning academic detailing model.
The University of Derby is one institution to recognise this, setting up a separate department to focus on online distance learning students with academic systems and tutors dedicated to their specific needs.
In each episode the student talks about a particular aspect of distance learning such as academic writing, critical thinking or social learning, explaining the challenges they have faced along the way.

In recent years, the number of online distance learning courses and programs in academic institutions is increasing drastically (Allen, Seaman, Poulin, & Straut, 2016; Barak, Watted, & Haick, 2016).
However, while these startups (and more) offer distance learning options in the traditional academic sense, many people are interested in pursuing other hobbies or activities, like, say, boosting workout regimens, or learning how to cook, or box, or how to draw your favorite cartoon characters.
